The other day, I was in Starbucks with my pen and yellow note pad thinking and taking notes, coming up with ideas, reading the newspaper and mingling with various other caffeine consuming patrons. One of the other guests said kiddingly to me; "what you need to do is get yourself a computer, you can't remain a Luddite forever." Yes, that's quite funny for anyone who really knows me. You see I spend all day on the computer doing research, writing, emailing, and looking up online news.
That same day, I read online where a top online article directory website had recommended amongst many other helpful tips that it made since once in a while to "ditch the technology" and get away from it all. You know what, they're right, that's excellent advice, in fact I do it all the time myself. I do not carry around a smart phone or iPad, as I'm on the Internet all day anyway, I don't need it when I'm going out. Instead I'll have a piece of paper and a pen and jot down notes, I know what my thoughts mean by just a few sentences, I don't need to go any further than that.
If I am out taking a walk, I might take with me a digital recorder ...
... instead, but it amounts to the same thing. I would say having an old notebook and a pen, or a digital recorder if you are the techie-type, well these are must haves for any serious online article writer, regardless of your niche. Further, you should have your notebook and pen next to your bed as well, it's amazing some of the great ideas you might have in the middle of the night, those "ah ha" moments should not be wasted. In fact some of those insights should probably be shared with the rest of the world online.
Don't waste great thoughts, write them down, and share them with the world. Consider if you will how many major new discoveries have been made or attributed to various folks, and how many people probably had the exact thought but never wrote it down, they never told anyone, it was just a fleeting thought, and they were on to their next. Imagine if the world had all the information, and all those people in all those areas of human endeavor had all of that information?
Well, it's all possible now with the Internet, and it's up to you to write it down. So, always have a notebook in hand and produce an online article for all the world read. Please consider all this and think on it.
