Cheap Wooden Bed Frames
Probably the best type of bed frame that you could opt for is the wooden one. Apart from its obvious qualities, durability and strength, wood also has great good looks, charm and provides a warm and cozy finish to your bedroom décor.
Wood has been in use for manufacturing bed frames for centuries and in many old houses and museums, you can still view beds that are hundreds of years old, still in pristine condition. Fashions may come and go – the trend for metal, plastic, bamboo etc have waxed and waned but there's nothing to beat the sheer appeal and appearance of wood. It can be matched with any kind of look – be it antique, rustic, ornate or minimalistic. It is also safe for children and seniors, without the hazards of rust, toxic paints or unsafe welding. Cleaning a wooden bed frame is relatively easy and all it needs is a good dusting and regular polishing to keep it looking great. Wood ages very well and develops a gorgeous shine and patina over the years.
On the flip side, wood is vulnerable to pest-attacks and wooden bed frames provide innumerable cracks and crevices for bugs and micro-organisms to ...
... hide in. Unseasoned wood changes its appearance when exposed to damp conditions and can warp or expand. The weight of a wooden bed frame can be something that puts customers off, especially if they're planning to move house often. Frequent assembling and dismantling can weaken the joints and make the bed unsafe. Wood is also, ultimately, a very expensive material. Some people have genuine concerns about using wood for ethical and environmental reasons.
The wood used for furniture undergoes special seasoning, curing and treatment against pests. Some manufacturers use recycled wood and it's important to know whether the wood has been sourced from the right place.
Wooden beds come in the standard sizes/dimensions: small (twin), double, queen and king sized. Other special sizes like princess or super-king may be offered by some manufacturers. Different colors and finishes like natural oak, black, dark, pine, spruce, painted in different colors or polished/stained to give high gloss, a matte finish or polish which highlights the natural grain of the wood. If you want to really splurge on wooden beds, you can opt for hand-crafted bespoke pieces made to a design of your choosing. This could cost you big time, but what you'll get is an heirloom piece which will probably last for generations.
Cheaper quality wooden bed frames can be covered with a variety of materials like fabric or leather/faux leather for an entirely different look. The use of upholstered headboards or foot-ends adds that touch of luxury.
If you want a bed frame that's long-lasting, sturdy and ages well, wood is the way to go!
