Mr. Vinod Kapoor and his wife were planed a 4 nights and 5 days trip for Darjeeling and Gangtok in the Month of August. They have booked hotel and hire taxi in Darjeeling one month before. But for last few days Mr. Vinod is very worried about his trip of Darjeeling because of this Gorkhaland issue. Now this family has decided to drop their Darjeeling vacation and cancel the taxi from Bagdogra to Darjeeling. According to leading online car Rental Company MyTaxiIndia.com, Darjeeling car rental industry faces a huge loss due to this Gorkhaland issue. There are 90% of travellers changed their itinerary and dropped the night stay plan of Darjeeling. Last year Darjeeling Car rental industry increased by 30% of growth and it helps the tourism of north east (NE).

The good news for all of us West Bengal government is handling this matter very seriously and government says this issue will be resolved very soon. They are giving confidence to all traveller that Darjeeling is safe and there is no need to worry.

We spoke to a local Taxi Driver Ram Thapa. Ram Thapa is driving taxi in Darjeeling from last 5 years. He said Car rental in Darjeeling is his only one source of income and he was very happy with it. Due to some online company Taxi rental services in Darjeeling become very easy and this is good for us. But now a day due to this protest many traveller cancelled their program for Darjeeling. People still coming north east but they are not coming in Darjeeling.

This is not confirmed but in the month of August Darjeeling Car rental services and Hotel industry face huge business loss. This is one of the fastest growing tourist sector and in last 2 years due to high demand of taxi hire in Darjeeling many of local people taken loan from bank and running taxi rental service in Darjeeling location. Now those people are worrying how they would pay instalment if they don’t have business. They urge to Gorkhaland protestors and Government to find a way for this problem.
