This is the oldest on our list of 5 historic Boston Restaurants, and it has some interesting history. The name was selected in honor of the original owner’s profession as the Boston town crier. When Jimmy Wilson retired from that post in 1795 he opened the Bell in Hand Tavern which has greeted notables including Paul Revere.
