Bringing a car in for an oil change might seem like an everyday activity. It actually is a good opportunity to get one’s car checked out from top to bottom. Some auto repair shops that serve Boulder and Longmont, CO for example, provide these extra inspections. Their mechanics can go through all of a car’s systems so any potentially troublesome issues can be discovered before they become major problems. Whether one lives in the Boulder area or elsewhere it can pay to visit an auto repair shop that provides these extra inspection services.

Not all auto repair shops take the time to give a car a full inspection when one takes it in for an oil change. Some auto service centers like to provide extra care to their customers, as they want people to be satisfied and return again for service. The car owner can really benefit from these periodic inspections as sometimes a part that is ready to break may show no visible signs of wear to the average driver. Sometimes only a mechanic can tell when parts need replacement. For example a mechanic can check for loose belts and hoses before they come off and cause problems. ...
... Trouble with spark plugs is another issue mechanics can check. Sometimes they misfire and the technician will check the distributor cap or the plug wires.

Replacing mass air flow sensors is another issue that the auto repair shop may notice a need for when a customer brings a car in for routine maintenance. This part regulates the amount of fuel to an engine by measuring the amount of air supplied to it. Some mechanics say you can clean this part versus replacing it. It’s important to get it taken care of and an experienced technician can handle it.

One of the more interesting problems that can be easily fixed is a damaged gas cap. If the cap is damaged gas can evaporate, wasting money and decreasing gas mileage. Mechanics check this a lot when they inspect cars. Getting a new cap installed doesn’t cost much but it can surely save money and trouble in the long run.

Another issue that a good auto repair shop can address is windshield wipers. Having good wipers (for front and back windows; for cars that come with these) might seem like a minor point on a car. Actually it is really important as it can help drivers during a stormy day when it’s hard to see. Mechanics will recommend wipers that will work well for particular vehicles.

Bringing one’s car in for service is a great time to get it inspected for other issues besides an oil change or lube job. Automobiles are comprised of a multitude of systems which must all work together so the entire vehicle can operate correctly. Drivers should be encouraged when mechanics spend some time reviewing their car’s systems. Those reviews might just prevent a future breakdown.
