Generally, automatic airsoft guns cost slightly more than the non-automatic airsoft guns. That trend holds, whether we are looking at airsoft rifles or airsoft pistols. Put in other words, in order to make the automatic firing mechanism possible, more components have to be included in the guns. Those components cost money, and the cost is ultimately borne by the people who show interest in buying the guns. It may also be added that it generally takes more expertise to come up with an automatic airsoft gun, compared to what it takes to come up with a non-automatic airsoft gun. Further, it takes more manufacturing time, to come up with an automatic airsoft gun, compared to what it takes to manufacture a non-automatic airsoft gun. In summary, the manufacturing costs for the automatic airsoft gun are substantially higher than the manufacturing costs for the non-automatic airsoft gun.

The second justification for the higher cost associated with automatic airsoft guns is in their utilitarian value. Again, few people will raise any arguments against the fact that, generally speaking, the automatic airsoft guns are more useful than the non-automatic airsoft guns. This is seen as justification for the higher cost (because the person paying more for an automatic airsoft gun actually gets more value). Often, the difference between what the automatic guns cost and what the non-automatic guns cost is small. Yet the difference, in terms of usefulness, between the two types of guns is so huge. Against that background, the people who are told that they will have to pay slightly more for the automatic airsoft guns are only too willing to do so, in exchange for the extra utilitarian value offered by the automatic guns.
