We all like to be recognised in various ways when the situation arises. We like being recognised for a job well done. We also like to be recognised and acknowledged as good people who care about those around them. If you have kids you'd undoubtedly like to be recognised as a good parent – even if you have to wait until their teenage years are over to receive this recognition!

Seriously though, recognition has a great hold over our lives. Think about this for a moment. We all have opinions about everything that takes place in our lives and everything we experience. We like those opinions to be valued and acknowledged, otherwise we feel ignored and isolated. We all have our place in society and we are all very different people. It is part of the human condition that we would want our place to be acknowledged and remembered.

Social recognition can come in many different forms. It can come as a reward or recognition of something we have achieved. Medals, gifts and status are all examples ...
... of how this form of recognition can be bestowed. There are other ways of being recognised too though, such as rewards that are given for taking part in important surveys. Many of these surveys are provided online and panel rewards are often given to those who take part in these panels and provide their opinions.

For example, a company may want peoples' opinions on a new product they are thinking of creating. They put together a survey whereby they ask a number of questions that will help them create this product. A panel of people is asked to go through the survey and everyone who completes it will get one of the panel rewards. This might be in the form of a free product or sometimes even a cash reward. There are websites online that specialise in providing these surveys for members to take. This is one example of how the members can be recognised for their opinions, simply by filling in straightforward surveys on a regular basis.

Of course some people like to receive more recognition than others. Some of us are naturally happy to stay in the shadows. While we like being recognised we do not crave this attention. Others meanwhile act in certain ways so as to ensure they receive the attention they want. As you can probably guess, recognition does not have to be purely for good. People can be recognised in negative ways as well, so it makes sense to ensure you fall into the positive side of this equation.

Like it or not we are all a part of the society and community that is around us. We can interact in positive ways with this society to ensure we are able to able to get the results we want. If we all did this more often the social benefits of being recognised in a positive way could spread and inspire more people to act in the same way.
