Birmingham – A City Of The Future

Birmingham is well known as Britain’s second city and has long been the nation’s manufacturing powerhouse. Just over 1 million people live in Birmingham and that number is growing all the time as the thriving economy and excellent universities attract migrant from both within the UK and further afield. Plenty of people move within Birmingham too – upsizing and downsizing as personal circumstances and family size changes. There is pressure on housing stock in Birmingham as with elsewhere in the UK, so finding the perfect house can be challenging.
For some people location is everything, for others cheap rent is more important. Young families need good schools nearby, university students want to get to lectures easily and have access to a great nightlife, while entrepreneurs need to be in the thick of economic growth. Researching the various areas of Birmingham is a must before considering a move to the city. After all, there is 103 square miles of city and 40 wards to choose from, each with their own positives and negatives.
There is nothing as good as on the ground research. Visiting the city is the only way ...
... to really get a feel of what it is like. The city centre has recently been undergoing a transformation as the Big City Plan regenerates previously run down and shabby areas. New Street Station is being revamped and the canal area has been redeveloped into a pedestrianized area full of galleries, shops and museums. The Bullring is now one of the busiest shopping centres in the UK and houses prestigious shops such as Selfridges and Debenhams and attracts visitors from all over the world. A new park has recently been created as agreen space on the east side of the city centre and a new Library of Birmingham is due to open in September 2013. The creation of a science park to encourage research and development as well as high tech companies is well underway and the redevelopment of Paradise Circus will ensure that there is plenty of room for businesses to start up, expand and move in.
All in all Birmingham is set to become one of the most vibrant cities in the UK and Europe and in an excellent position to take advantage of the beginnings of economic growth following the recession of the previous years. In fact there are fewer and fewer reasons not to move to Birmingham – cheaper than London but with excellent, arguably better, travel links, in a prime location in the middle of the UK and with no fewer than six universities and jobs being created daily.
So the job has been offered and accepted in Paradise Circus, a house has been bought in Solihull, schools have been found for the children and you’re all set to move. There are plenty of Removal Companies in Birmingham to choose from – around 170 according to a quick look at Yell.com. Finding the right removals firm is key to ensuring a stress and trouble free move.
