Essential Care After All-on-4 Implant Surgery

Going for All on 4 dental implants as a solution for your missing teeth is a wise decision. So, if you have had these implants, it is a must to take care of them after the surgery to heal and recover as fast as possible.
Follow the below mentioned list to expect better functions from All-on-4 implants for a longer time period:
Food: Continue taking proper diet and nourishment. Don’t skip a single meal. Consume soft and warm food items like soups, soft-boiled eggs, dairy products, fish, ice-cream, or well-cooked cereals. By following a proper diet, you will feel much better and feel less pain and heal faster. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water each day and avoid eating on the implant sites.
Avoid disturbing the wound: Keep your fingers and tongue away from the implant area. Or else, this might cause itching, bleeding, irritation, or can even loosen the stitches.
Rinsing after the surgery: You can start rinsing gently with a prescribed mouthwash. Rinsing with a slightly warm or luke warm water with a little salt is also great. Continue rinsing 3-4 times a day or after every meal for the first ...
... week.
Pain reliever: Follow the direction as given with the prescribed pain relief tablets. Discontinue the medicines as soon as the pain fades away, just take only what you need to be comfortable. Take these after meals and with sufficient water. As their name recommends, they are great to reduce inflammation and swelling thus meaning less pain.
Feeling nausea: You might also feel nausea or sickness due to consuming some pain reliever tablets and / or antibiotics, by not eating properly or the surgery itself may cause nausea. Consult your implant surgeon for the same.
Applying ice packs: A cold compress applied to the face over the surgical area is also a good idea to prevent swelling and pain.
Brushing: Avoid brushing the area where the implants have been placed for the first 2-3 days. After that, start brushing gently with a soft toothbrush dipped in hot water.
Alcohol and smoking: Drinking alcohol and smoking pose more risk for implant failure. Hence, your implant surgeon will suggest you avoid these two activities as this might impair healing. Even though, if you are a smoker, you can be treated for all on 4 dental implants successfully, but in the long run, smoking accelerates the risk for implant failure.
Tell your dental professional of any discomfort: It is advisable to report promptly any condition that appears unusual related to your implants.
Consider the above mentioned care regime to be carried out and followed diligently for averting any complications related to your All on Four dental implants. Taking better and diligent care of your dental implants can ensure proper functioning of the implants for years to come.
