Boob implants are medical prosthesis’s that are used to reform, augment or create a new breast in the physical form. Boob implants are of three types, namely; saline implant, silicone implant and also the alternative composition implants. The saline implant is usually filled with a sterile saline solution. The silicone implant is filled with a viscous silicone gel while the alternative composition implant is filled with miscellaneous fillers among which are soy oil and polypropylene.

Boob implants have been in use since the 19th century to surgically alter the size and volume of a woman’s breast as well as modifying the shape and feel of the breast. By the use of boob implants, a woman can go from an AA to a C cup size in just under a few hours. The latest generation of implants feels even more and more natural with less discomfort as compared to the earlier generations of boob implants. Surgeons are now able to employ new technologies used in the surgery that leave very small scars on the patient. However, surgical scars breast augmentation, normally develop at approximately 6 weeks after the procedure and then ...
... later fade away within a few months. Alternatively, women who have their boob implants placed just beneath the chest cavity muscles normally take a longer period of time to recover.

Many women usually turn to this method due to its instant and dramatic results. However, boob implants have a dark side to them. They include; rapture of the implants. The risk of boob implants rupturing will always exist for the rest of the patients life or as long as the boob implants are still in the breast. This could be a medical emergency as well as a potentially life threatening risk. Another risk is difficulty in mammography; Boob implants make mammography and therefore make the detection of breast abnormalities and tumors even more difficult to detect. However, the level of difficult can be reduced by the use of a submuscular boob implant. Yet another risk is recovery time; you will not be able to return to your normal activities for a period of time after the surgery. Even after you are up and about, you will be forced to wear specially padded bras as well as painkillers so as to reduce the pain and discomfort that you will be experiencing. Another risk is infection; infection is a risk of every surgery regardless of how minor the surgery is. In the event of an infection during the boob implant surgery, it would almost certainly require an immediate removal of the implant altogether. The final risk is anesthesia; every year people die from mistakes made by anesthetists. Even though anesthetists are usually very highly trained professionals, it is still possible to make mistakes.

Despite the various dangers associated with boob implant surgery, it still remains to be the most viable tool for breast augmentation. It is as a result of these dangers that it is strongly recommended that boob implants be considered only as a last resort but not before all other options have been reviewed thoroughly.
