Veneers And Its Benefits
Veneers are some permanent and excellent way of changing teeth’s appearance through cosmetic dentistry. A dentist will use some thin and white colored shell to cover your tooth. If you have stained, cracked, uneven of chipped teeth, veneers are the best for you. One good reason to get them is to close the gap between the teeth. Once installed, veneers are permanent which is why it should be considered carefully.
There are two different types of veneers. These are the composite resin and the porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are being preferred over the composite resin because of the fact that they can last longer. You can actually get more than one veneers if you need but you will have some trouble in matching the color. Porcelain veneers are the best choice for they are proven stain resistant. They usually match the natural color of your teeth. Because it is being created outside the dental office, it will take time before you can have your porcelain veneers. But you can have temporary veneers while you are waiting for the permanent one. If ever your porcelain veneer is chipped or cracked, it can’t be fixed instead ...
... it will be replaced.
The resin veneers are stain resistant but not as effective as the porcelain veneer; usually most people don’t prefer resin veneers. But for some people this can be the best option depending on the dental case. These veneers are made inside the dental office, thus it can be used and applied sooner. This is much more convenient for some people. Compared to the porcelain veneer, resin veneer is much more affordable. It is expected to last for about five up to seven years of use.
Which is better: Porcelain or Resin?
Porcelain veneers are more resistant to stains, and it can definitely last longer compared to the resin veneer. But still, there are times wherein composite resin is much more appropriate. Resin is being preferred for some cases, because this resin can be adjusted or can be repaired if they are damaged or if it doesn’t look right. It’s more convenient rather than porcelain veneer.
The Process of Application
The qualified dentist will first get some impressions from your teeth; it will be used as a guide in order to perfectly design your veneers. Before your veneers will be attached into your teeth, the dentist will do some filling on your natural enamel. This procedure can’t be undone. After that, the dentist will cement the specific veneer into your tooth with the use of some dental resin. In some cases, patients will suffer from extreme tooth sensitivity due to the removal or filing of the natural enamel. Usually, veneer procedure needs three appointments because it requires some minor preparations for the teeth. On the first visit, your dentist will do some examining on your teeth, make some dental x rays, and will tell you if you really need dental veneers. During this time, you should tell your dentist what you want for the outcome. In some cases, the dentist won’t recommend tooth veneers but instead will prefer teeth whitening.
