Terrific Punk Rock Drummers Of The Past Ten Years Or So

At the start of the list is a comparatively fresh drummer, many may say that he isn't truly a punk drummer and more of a metal one but I differ, it's right that he's partial to calm it down and do some death metal fills but deep down he's really a punk rocker-
Steve Jocz -AKA "Stevo"
Born 23/07/1981. Jocz is generally renowned for his work in the Canadian pop punk band Sum 41. A fantastically high-speed and awkward drummer, he can switch the tone of a song instantaneously. Only one of the small amount of punk rock drummers that is able to record cheesy metal rolls and get away with handling it. Steve is also well known for his lavatory comedy which is a distinct sign of punk maturity/immaturity- you decide!
Travis Barker
Born 14/11/1975. Perhaps best renowned for his work in Blink 182 he has also banged away for numerous other bands. Travis comes in at no 4 not simply because of his wonderful speed and timing but also because of his extensive range of styles from Punk to Hip-hop, Pop to even Country.
Tré Cool (real name Frank Edwin Wright III)
Born on December 9, 1972. Tré is ...
... 1 of the original (pretty much) 3 piece which makes up Green Day. Bending a lot closer to the pop part of punk as a drummer, Tré undeniably assisted Green Day accomplish the international audience that drove them to megastars. If he been yet an extra, breakneck speed, clichéd drummer the band might have struggled to allure such a massive marketplace.
Josh Freese
Born on December 25, 1972. He is generally renowned for his work in The Vandals although is capable of listing numerous other bands and accomplishments. A breakneck speed drummer he's able to slow it down and mix with the best and has recorded for Guns N' Roses, Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne as if to demonstrate the point. Josh's solo recordings at times feature a slower, more refrained drumming manner proving that a fast pace isn't all but for my part I favour the Vandals sound.
Erik Sandin-AKA "Smelly"
Born on July 29, 1966. Erik is the permanent drummer for NOFX. Erik was an original part of the band but departed 2 years after in 1983. In 1986 Sandin was convinced to re-unite with the band but suffered from heroin dependence till 1992 when thankfully he booked into a rehab clinic and has been clean ever since. Whilst Sandin may not be the top of everybodys list, for everybody that loves the flawlessness of NOFX then there is no challenger.

Even though Nicky has grown up (a little) and uses his time working for http://www.callhandling.org.uk/works.php providers, he continues to be a huge follower of punk. Unfortunately his hair's a fair bit more tolerable nowadays too.
