Sari-the Unique Indian Wear
It is true that a sari accentuates the beauty of women. The outfit because of its simple yet elegant look is loved by women, not only in India but around the world. Let’s read more about the most popular varieties in sari.
Sari is the most common outfit worn by the women of India (Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka too). It is an unstitched piece of cloth strip, extending from four to nine meters in length and is draped around the body in different styles. In the most common one you need to wrap the sari around your waist and leave a meter of it and put the other end of the left meter of cloth over the shoulder baring the midriff. Apart from this it also includes a blouse and a petticoat to wear on upper and lower body respectively, beneath the sari.
Not just the sari is worn in various styles but is also worn according to region, material of cloth, color and design. The trend of designer saris is now increasing in western markets as well. Fabrics like silk, cotton, chiffon etc. are in huge demands, as they put comfort along with the style. In India, each region has its own specific sari style and thus, there is ...
... a wide variety available in the market to choose from.
Northern Style: In the north region, banarsi and chikan saris are very popular. Where banarsi saris are famous for their originality in silk material, elegant and high class look, chikan saris are more simple, classy and apt for summers. Banarsi saris are preferred for wedding occasions and chikan is usually preferred for more official events.
Eastern Style: In eastern places of India, Ikat, Jamdani and Baluchari are the common forms. The unique thing about Ikat saris is that the threads are woven together to form the sari and the design itself is formed along with that. Jamdani sari has a distinct feature of artistic and expensive fabric, its unique designs are handmade. These saris are generally preferred for light occasions.
Western Style: Paithani, Bandhani and Lugade saris are worn in western region. Paithani is known around the world as a poem hand woven in silk and gold. These are made in rich and vibrant colors only. Bandhani is famous among Gujratis and the art of making bandhani sari is a highly skilled process. To view beautiful collection of sari, click here.
Southern Style: Kanjeevaram, Manglagiri and Gunter are a few among the many type of saris worn in the south. The kanjeevaram silk is of a very high quality and is a mark of pure elegance and high status down the south.
Central Style: In the central region Chanderi sari is very popular among women. Along with banarsi and kanjeevaram, Chanderi too is incredibly famous all around India. They are made with a blend of cotton and silk, and are available in different hues.
Indian wear is always loved by women. One of the best things about a sari is that it can be stitched into a salwar kameez or a traditional lehenga, after wearing it for a few years.
Apart from the mentioned classic patterns of saris, the market today is expanding and exploring new different styles of designer wear saris for the young women's taste. You can find saris with various designs of blouses and pallus in the market to suit your taste and style. The best thing about them is that they are traditional plus classy.
