Thai Law Firm Welcomes New 'tourist Buddy' Smartphone App

Bangkok - Launched in April 2013, the 'Tourist Buddy' application can be downloaded free from the iTunes store and Tourist Police officers said it would also soon be available in the Android store.

Initially available for iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad, Tourist Buddy provides travel and safety information for tourists and travellers around Thailand. It also warns of scams aimed at tourists.

The download page says about Tourist Buddy: "This app acts like your Buddy. You can find anything about travel places, important numbers, events and public information for travel."

According to the Tourist Police, the Tourist Buddy initiative ensures 24 hour assistance for its users, along with a better standard of help for those in need.

The program can specify the exact location of the place from where assistance has been requested. It also includes information on Tourist Police branches nationwide, emergency numbers and news updates. Immediate calls can also be made to the Tourist Police 1155 Hotline from the application.

The Tourist Police are also cooperating with the Emergency Medical Institute ...
... of Thailand. Tourists with medical concerns can call the EMIT 1669 Hotline for immediate assistance.
