Many of my friends have blogs. They write on every subject under the sub, from sports, to kids, to school, and of course work. If you are thinking of starting a blog or already have one, then follow these five tips to help you perfect your blog for the many visitors that are sure to come and read what you have to write.

Write for your audience
You have a blog about something, whether it is talking about the weather, your favorite sports team, or your boating experiences, nothing will have your visitors leave faster then they came then content that is not geared toward them. Make sure that what you post on your blog has to do with what the reader thinks they are going there for in the first place. In other words if you have a blog about weight loss, make sure you post content about weight loss and not about why you like the color blue. You get the point.

Become a Niche Blog
Expanding on the first tip, not only should you make sure your content is geared toward what the visitor expects, but you should narrow down your topic to a specific genre or subcategory within the topic itself. ...
... For example lets say you are into alternative fuel energy and have a blog on that subject. Well that subject by itself is very broad. You can narrow it down to blog about just solar or just wind or just ethanol. Making it more specific will attract specific users to that topic and if advertising revenue is what you are looking for when running your blog, you know exactly which topic and category works best.

Be Responsive
So many times bloggers post information that sparks debate among their visitors and yet the blogger themselves never partakes in that discussion. Stay with this type of process and it won't be long before the visitors stop going. Blog readers like to express their opinions with bloggers and they would like the blogger to respond to expand on the blog's content. You should always respond to as many comments as you can. Just because you want to rule the blogging world does not mean you should not read other people's blogs. In fact you should do it on a daily basis. Be Specific in a Content Post
In other words avoid trying to satisfy every topic on your niche in one single post. It is your blog and you can post as many pieces of content that you would like. For example, lets say you run a blog on power tools, specifically table saws. You wrote this great article on 5 excellent accessories for the table saw. Instead of making one long post on all five, split that up into 5 separate posts and elaborate on each accessory. Then post each piece of content once per day giving you 5 unique posts.
