Realistic 3D rendering has been around for quite some time now and has helped in the planning and design process. The importance of the tool in the architect’s ability to persuade clients into buying his idea can never be denied. Through this handy tool, the artist is able to present a building or house in the most realistic way before it is built. Because it is now cheaper to solicit a digital design than the old-fashioned sketch, more and more architects are turning to 3D rendering as leverage for their businesses.

How it helps

3D rendering is created using rendering software, which is similar to the ones used in animated movies. They mimic the effects of photographs through the utilisation of lights, complex staging, camera angles and dimensions. For the client who can’t really visualise the architect’s vision, this is an extremely valuable tool. For the realtor who is having a hard time explaining the design of the house to be built, showing them a realistic 3D rendering makes the whole process easier.

Experiment with the design

The artist and the architect or the interior designer ...
... can experiment with the final look of the building through 3D rendering. Through this tool, they can better distinguish the spaces and volume in each section of the house, they can better see the relationship between the rooms and how they look with furniture and amenities. They can also experiment with the entrance, hallways, windows and backdoor. In some cases the final 3D rendering will also depict a garden as the architect perceived it to be.

Better coordination with client

Realistic 3D rendering takes frustration out of the equation. Too often, the architect or interior designer butt heads with the client because they just don’t see eye to eye. With an image they can work with, it’s now easier to change the colour of the paint, move furniture around, take out whole rooms or add new ones, put in backgrounds and other accessories up until they are satisfied with the final design.

Other benefits

More affordable – 3D rendering is cheaper compared to soliciting the services of somebody to create scale models. You can find numerous artists who are adept at using the rendering software.

Saves time – compared to the scale model, rendering saves you time in the hands of a capable artist, particularly when you are on a deadline.

Better presentation – the architect or realtor can better present the model through a walk-through presentation. In some instances, the clients can even “walk around” the 3D design and find small details they could not have discovered otherwise.

Extremely flexible – the ability to change the templates and design on the fly is one of the measurable benefits of realistic 3D rendering. You can’t say the same with the sketch or with the model scale.

Save on costs – the client can also save on costs with the use of 3D rendering because changes can be done on the computer software and not on site. Meaning, the engineer won’t have to take down whole sections because the clients decided they don’t want it after all.
