Teeth Grinding- An Indication About A Serious Health Disorder!

Both a medical and a dental problem, this bruxism is considered. Not only the teeth are affected by this but also the supporting surrounding structure.
During sleep, grinding typically occurs. You know how terrible grinding teeth can sound, if you've ever had a roommate or loved one who grinds their teeth. The condition can be mild or extreme. If teeth grinding condition is at its extreme side, it can be so bad...it can make you shiver or send chills down your spine. As someone snoring in the same room, it can be just as bothersome. It can wake others in the room, if the grinding is bad enough.
For many reasons, people grind their teeth. Many doctors believe that due to stress, the majority of people grind their teeth.
Affecting three out of every ten, clenching of teeth is fairly common in children as well. It is seen most often in children under the age of five. No one knows exactly why they develop this tendency, but it may be due to their lower and upper teeth not being aligned, earache, tooth eruption, or even stress- possibly from strife or tension at home or some other lifestyle change.
Because ...
... kids' teeth aren't yet permanent, they usually outgrow grinding. Baby teeth will be replaced by permanent adult teeth and will be much stronger and aligned in a better way. However, it's imperative for adults to be aware of teeth grinding effects since your adult teeth are the teeth you have for life.
There are number of negative effects associated with bruxism, although teeth grinding shouldn't be a real concern for health problems.
Some of the common effects of bruxism are chipping of teeth, wearing down of the biting surfaces, cracks in the teeth, caused by tooth decay, collapse of hollowed teeth, TMJ- pain in the joint of the jaw (round about 5-10% people will develop TMJ from teeth grinding.), teeth gets loosened, teeth shortening, chewing of cheek’s inside tissue, headaches, abfractions- loss of tooth structure, loss of tooth, sensitivity in tooth, gum recession, wearing away of tooth enamel, lesions and irritation and disturbance to the partner.
You can see why to assess the situation, once someone recognizes this condition they should take immediate action.
Until symptoms of teeth grinding appear, the problem is that most people don't know they are suffering from bruxism.
By their dentist or partner, usually teeth grinding is brought to the person's attention. As they can better evaluate what needs to be done to prevent future problems, dentists are the first line of defense for bruxism. At your local dental clinic, bruxism diagnosis can be handled most effectively.
