As a project manager you should abide by cost performance baselines. If there is a genuine increase in the scope, you need to revisit the cost performance baselines whether it would be impacted through that addition in the scope. These all activities you can perform through complete understanding of cost management, i.e., how to control budget or cost for your project. You need to understand what is your current revenue/expenditure ratio; if it is in positive, i.e., revenue is more; you are doing well in perspective of cost expenditure.
