If your eye sight is weak, for whatever reason, you certainly would be using glasses to correct the vision. More often than not, the vision further deteriorates over time and you have to constantly keep changing the glasses. The glasses, except for correcting the vision, do not help in any way to improve the eye sight, since, all it does is focus the light entering the eyes on to the retina.

Have you ever heard of Pinhole glasses? It is a new concept in eye care and is fast gaining in popularity. It appears something similar to a pair of sunglasses, but there is a lot of difference. In a pair of sunglasses, you have a lens with a tint fitted on the frame through which the light rays pass and enter the eye. With a pair of pinhole eyeglasses, you do not have a lens but instead have an opaque plastic sheet with a number of holes placed at fixed distances fitted on to a standard frame.

Pinhole glasses block the excess light and only permit the direct ray of light to enter ...
... the eye through the multiple pinholes thus helping focus the light on the retina. This cuts out the glare and reduces the strain on the eye muscles. As a result you get a sharp focused image without any strain on the eye. Since there is no glass lens, there is no need to have different glasses for different people with different vision problems. One standard set of glasses can do for everyone. You do not need to change your glasses every time your eye sight deteriorates or improves, the same glasses will do. You do not need different pairs of glasses for near and far sightedness nor do you need bifocal or even trifocal glasses as the same pair will work for both.

If you are suffering from any refractive disorder or are a regular computer user or watch TV for long hours, a pair of Pinhole glasses will really be of help. It can even be used if a person is suffering from a variety of eye ailments such as presbyopia, hyperopia, astigmatism or even cataract.

Mike has been writing and publishing articles about health products. He recently came across a website on pinhole glasses which gave information about this old technique of using pinhole glasses for eyesight correction. Here's an article about pinhole glasses.
