But not all auto repair shops practice this kind of scam; the majority of the auto repair shop is still honest and truthful with their customers. But still, there are some companies who have high rates of scams and fraud. According to the recent study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, service center repair scams are number 4 on their top 10 consumer complaint list.

Before you trust these companies make sure to look for reviews and complaints first on the internet. Several shops are offering ultra-low prices because they are using used or low quality parts for your car. This would have a large impact on the performance and the durability of the components and may produce further problems or recurring problems in your vehicle. If you have experienced this type or problem with your auto repair shop, write a review about them on the net to help future victims of these shops and also look for legal action against the service center.

Misleading Information and Offers Services that are Unnecessary
A tune up doesn’t mean that it should be a major overhaul. There are some auto repair shops that are giving misleading advices about your car that is unnecessary. These are some upgrades and services that would pressure you to have additional work done in your vehicle that you don’t need.
‘Lifetime’ brake pads, Fuel-Saving Gadgets, and Fuel Injector Cleaning, these are some services that is not necessary upgrades in your car. If a company offers you “Fuel-Saving Gadget” it is better to say no than to pay for something that is not working. There is no absolutely fact that this device worked because they don’t actually work, if these gadgets did, then all of the car owners would own these gadgets and would recommend them to you.
The “lifetime” brake pads is just a scam and auto repair shops offer this one time brakes pairs for a low price of $89, but the truth is, you are buying low quality set of brake pads. While a Fuel Injector cleaning is necessary when your car reach the 100,000-mile mark. But if your autos repair shop it with you when you don’t need it? It’s better to say no.

It’s better to know these before actually falling from their trap. There are lots of complaints about these types of auto repair shops and it would be better if you would know them before you go to a shop. Always look for reviews and comments about a certain shop before going there and rendering their services.
