Efficient water treatment solutions are essential for the healthy growth of crops. Those of you who have done the greenhouse irrigation might be aware that it is dependent on the irrigation water. The greenhouse crops, technically known as the hydroponic crops cannot be treated with municipal water due to two basic reasons. First being its high cost and second being the presence of chlorine and other chemicals that are harmful to the hydroponic crops. In the summers, municipal water can be too warm for the hydroponic crops. This wilts the leaves and harms the water in the root zone.

To meet the needs of greenhouse plants, well water or pond water must be used. Yet, it is important to treat the well or pond water before using it for the irrigation. The well or pond water may contain intolerable ...
... levels of harmful chemicals or minerals that may prove to be damaging to the plants. In many cases, the high levels of bacteria are also present which makes a negative impact on the health of plants. To clean the water and make it ideal for irrigation of crops, specific firms are offering water filtration systems. Techniques like ozone sterilization and reconditioning of the irrigation water is important to maintain the right levels of pH, EC and dissolved oxygen in water. It is possible to treat the irrigation water without using any chemicals. Many firms are offering their high tech sterilization systems which are helpful in controlling the algae, bacteria, pathogens and viruses in the irrigation water.

You can also make use of the ozone water treatment systems to meet the irrigation needs. In case you are not aware, one of the biggest risks involved with recycling waste irrigation water for greenhouse crops is the re-introduction of bacteria and viruses in the irrigation water. As ozone treatment technique does not make use of any chemicals it can be considered safe for the greenhouse plants. It is one of the most effective techniques for sterilizing the irrigation water. The presence of dissolved oxygen in the irrigation water contributes in the overall growth of crops. These water treatment systems are cost-effective in contrast to other treatment systems. For the overall growth of greenhouse plants, a computer controlled fertilizer injection machine too can be used. The machine has an advanced software program that helps in providing the right fertilizer recipes to various flowers and vegetable crops.

Once the software is run, you will be provided with the timetable to water the plants or measure root zone moisture levels. With the help of fertilization manager, it is possible to irrigate various crops each one of them having their own feeding formula. The machine uses multiple fertilizer injectors to blend the various fertilizer recipes. These machines use electronic or pneumatic injectors which are specially designed for computer control. The reliable injectors are designed to deliver years of trouble free performance. Every system has 3 to 12 injectors with water flow rates from 200 LPM to 2,000 LPM. The wise use of these systems are helpful in saving around 30% of the water cost and 40% of the fertilizers cost.
