Red Fort Delhi - The Reminiscent Of Gloried Past Of Mughal Dynasty
Red Fort Delhi is an architectural marvel and was built by the Mughal emperor Shahjahan. The name red fort is given because of the extensive use of red sandstone; the construction work was started in 1638 and finished in 1648. It took ten years to complete this fort. The fort was built in order to shift his capital from Agra to Delhi. He named this place as Shah jahanabad.
The red fort Delhi covers the area of 254 acres approximately and the outer walls which are also meant for the protection of this royal palace are around 2.4 kilometers. The Red Fort history and architecture shows many things and they have combined European, Persian and Indian art. These art were put together to get a wonderful building in the world. This fort has all the best things which a royal palace should possess, of three different cultures, this style later known as Shahjahani style. The Lahore gate was for public use whereas Khizrabad gate for royal use.

Other important parts of this fort are Nehr-E-Behest, Zenana, Moti Masjid, Hayat Baksh Bagh.
Moti masjid was built by the Shah Jahan’s successor Aurangzeb in 1659. This is a small mosque with three domes; white marble is used inside this.
Hayat Baksh Bagh: this garden is comprised of many structures like tanks, pavilions, water channels and fountains. This is a West Asian style which Mughals brought and later developed their own style known as Mughal Gardens.
Red Fort Delhi does have not only modern day tourist attraction but also have great importance since the ancient times. Delhi has seen many rulers and this is one of the best examples of its glorious past. Even now a days the when prime minister of India addresses the whole nation from this fort. The ceremony is held at Red Fort Delhi every year. This signifies that it has political and historical values as well. In year 2007 this fort was awarded as the world heritage site by UNESCO. Delhi Tourism department is also organizing light and sound show to let the tourist enjoy in this magnificent place.
Red fort timings are from 6am to 6 pm and they charge you Rs 10 for Indian national and Rs 250 for foreigners. It is open on all days except on Mondays. Tourists can visit according to the Red Fort timings and could check different authentic literature for Red Fort history. After visiting this place you will feel that each and every part is designed according to the beauty and the grandeur of this fort. The designers have taken a great care of the small things. Each and every carved stone is perfectly fitted and the quality of the tiles is wonderful. This fort was designed in its own way and this design out shined its Europeans counterparts.
