Copywriting Tips - Closing The Sale
That is of course the bottom line. It doesn't matter what else you do with your sales copy to fancy it up. It you don't close the sale strong, you might as well forget about the rest of it. It's meaningless. I have seen some great sales copy that had a closing I wouldn't be able to make work on a man dying of dehydration if I was trying to sell him water. So how do you close a sale? I'm going to show you.
First, let me show you how NOT to close a sale. This is so common from people who don't know how to write strong copy. They'll get down to the bottom of their sales page and their call to take action goes something like this...
"Click on the link below to order."
Yeah, that's about it. As dull as a butcher's knife after carving up about a dozen steaks. I marvel at these kind of closings and wonder just how many sales these people actually get. Do they really believe that their sales copy, up to that point, was so good that all they have to do is show them the order link? I wish it was that simple. It's not. This kind of a closing, even with great sales copy, MAY get you a 1% conversion IF that. You might not ...
... even do THAT well.
Okay, so let's get back to my original question at the top of this article. How do you close a sale. Now I'm going to show you.
You've done all you can do to this point to show your prospect that your product is great and something that they can't live without. But some people are a little slow and they need to be pushed just a little bit. So this is where you give them that push. So as an example, let's say we're promoting a product that promises to cure their acne naturally. You might try something like this as a closing.
"Yes Steve...I want to get rid of my acne naturally in 3 days or less and have all the girls hanging all over me."
"Yes, I know that I get 90 full days to try this natural wonder and return it for a FULL refund if I'm not absolutely thrilled."
"Yes, I want this immediately."

That's how you get your prospect to respond. That's how you close your copy. You literally put the words in the prospect's mouth. You make him tell you what he wants and force him to go through with the purchase process.
Naturally, the product is going to determine the actual wording, but this should give you an idea of how to go about it.
