Balustrade Infill Options

If you think that balustrades are just balustrades then you’re wrong. Whilst there are a number of standard balustrade options one can choose, with each different style preferable for particular applications, there are several infill options to further customise your choice of balustrading.

Glass
Timeless and elegant, glass offers the perfect balance of light, visibility and safety. Glass can look fantastic in shops and shopping centres, improving customers’ visibility of products and allowing a much brighter environment to shop in.

Manifested glass
This gives a frosted glass effect, with techniques such as acid etching, sandblasting and screen printing then able to create distinctive visuals on the glass such as company logos, symbols and text.

Tension wire
Tension wire provides safety, durability and strength. Some balustrades can be fitted with tensioners hidden within the balusters to give a neat, uncluttered aesthetic appearance. Almost any number of wires can be used, although around four or five is most common.

... balustrading, often used in office staircases where climbability is not so much of a problem. Rails are usually 16mm in diameter to match handrail stalks, although a thicker rail can also be used if required.

Vertical rails
Vertical rails are often used to comply with regulatory requirements, such as when blocking off non-ground level windows to prevent falling. They produce a distinct visual effect with superb strength and durability.

Metal panels
Metal panels are commonly used in less secure exterior locations as they offer the highest possible level of safety, strength and security. They are often made from sheet metal and can be perforated with holes, although mesh and solid panels can also be used.
