Iceland is nothing less than heaven on earth. There are entrancing sights such like no other on the planet and Iceland tours are the best way to discover this fascinating land. The country abounds in waterfalls and volcanoes. Jokulsarlon is the largest and the best-known glacial lakes in the country. It is located at the southern tip of the Vatnajokull glacier that lies between the Vatnajokull National Park and the Skaftafell preservation area. At a depth of almost 250m, it is Iceland’s deepest lake. The Jokuslarlon glacier lagoon is not very far from the famed Icelandic Ring Road.

All Iceland tours that travel between Reykjavik and Hofn will usually take a halt here. The lake abounds in icebergs that calve off at the Breidamerkurjokull glacier. In the summer months, a boat ride on the Jokulsarlon is the best way to enjoy the expanse of this beautiful lake. Another irrefutably beautiful spot in Iceland is the golden waterfall, Gullfoss. Every tourist who visits Iceland will visit the place. It stems from Hvita the white river that originates from Hvitarvatn, a glacier lake. Most of its water comes from the Langjokull ...
... glacier. This glacier is the second largest one in Iceland.

The waterfall is a cascading wall of froth and foam. It is 32m high but plunges down in two stages or levels and is covered in all Golden Circle Tours. Apart from the Golden Circle Tours, the Hvirtarvatan lake tour is half an hour of pure pleasure. It takes around half an hour to get across the lake and the boat docks exactly in front of the massive Nordjurjokull. As you cruise along the lake, the fantastic view of the Nordjurjokull and Sudurjokull glaciers that are Langjokull’s outlet glaciers offer scenery that will leave you mesmerized. The melting glacier waters are one of Iceland’s most amazing spots. This is the spot where the Hvita River originates and goes on to cascade down the Gullfoss.

Some tours also take you hiking. There are glacier guides who will lead you across the area for around an hour. The view from the Langjokull glacier is fascinating and the walk is an easy one. If you prefer not to glacier hike, you can walk along the banks of the glacier. Once you are done with the hiking, you will be taken on a boat ride and will visit some of the most breathtaking places in the area. The nature reserve, Karlsdrattur is simply beautiful. It is so well-protected by the lake and the glacier that the only way to access it by boat. A landslide into the lake created the Green Lagoon.

No matter how you prefer seeing Iceland, whether by road, or boat, it will always leave you wanting more. The tours are well organized and the guides are friendly. The local people are very friendly and hospitable too. Once you have moved across all the fascinating places in the daytime, you can either relax at your hotel or else take in the night life in the city. Reykjavik is teeming with bars and you can hop across from one bar to the other and still not get tired of it.
