Smoked Ribs With A Twist

Cooking is an art. There are no limits of trying out different recipes and relishing them in their own ways. Originated from Caribbean language, Barbecue is prevalent and widespread in various regions of the world having their exclusive recipe styles. This recipe uses the conventional charcoal for cooking and seasoning it with whiskey flavored sauce.
A bright sunny day and a typical afternoon, this calls for a perfect cooking session. Invite few friends and loved ones. Food for the body is not enough. There must be food for the soul. The best option here is the traditional American style barbecue. The rustic country feel and the smell of the meat on the grill elevate the mood.
Barbecuing steaks, chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs, along with other meats are lavishly savored by all. This article experiments with Pork prepared on a charcoal grill in 9 simple steps.

Step2: Rub a little vegetable oil before adding the dry rub over it so as to keep the meat from burning. Make a rub by mixing 2 tsp chili powder, 2 tsp. dry mustard, 1 tbsp. black pepper & 1 tsp. salt. Apply half of the mixture onto the ribs 12-24 hrs. before cooking. Apply remaining rub 10 minutes before smoking.
Step3: Turn the charcoal grill into a smoker. Take 2 aluminum pans about half the size of the grill. Remove the cooking grill. Fill the grill with about 3 layers of charcoal and lit it. Place the aluminum pan on the coal grate and place more charcoal on the other side. Add wood chunks to add good smoke supply. Return the cooking grill and place the other aluminum plate filled with adequate water on the other side. The water will steam away slowly.
Step4: Place the ribs on the grill. Because the heat reaches one side, it is required to flip and switch the sides after every 1½ hours. Keep the other side over the flames for next 1½ hours.
Step5: After 3 hours on the grill, wrap the ribs lightly in aluminum foil. This restores the smoky flavor of the ribs. These baby ribs will go back on the grill for another 1 hour. Keep the temperature steady during the cooking time.
Step6: Remove the foil and check whether they are properly cooked or not. Lift the ribs from the middle and if the ends droop down loosely, the ribs are done.
Step7: When the ribs are nearly done, it is time to slather on the sauce. Now is the twist. To add sweet taste and rich glaze, use Jack Daniel's whiskey. For preparation of the sauce, combine in a saucepan 1 cup whiskey, 1 cup ketchup, ½ cup brown sugar, ¼ cup vinegar, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce & salt and pepper for taste and simmer for 20 minutes. Allow it to cool. Preparing it few days in advance will blend the flavor together.
Step8: Start by putting a layer on the ribs, turn it over and coat the other side. Close the lid for 5 minutes and repeat this about 5 times.
Step9: Take the ribs off the grill, cover and allow it to rest for 5-10minutes before serving. This mouthwatering, sumptuous barbecue ribs recipe would make you crave for more. Because after the entire process of cooking you will realize that it better to have burnt and lost, then to have never barbecued at all.
