Travelling is one of the things that senior citizens should embark on to enjoy their golden age. They deserve nothing less after years of working for their families. While travelling is now easier for the elderly now compared to what it was before, there are still hassles that a senior may encounter when planning his vacation. A good example of that is finding car rentals. As you can imagine, it's tough to find companies that are willing to lend vehicles to senior citizens. Finding a car hire in europe and other destinations for senior citizens is indeed tough, but not impossible. Here are some reminders to help you.

Use Your Own Insurance

Not surprisingly, rental companies are more amenable to lending their cars to senior citizens who have their own insurance plans. They can rest with more ease knowing that if the driver ever encounters an accident, the insurance will cover both the driver and the car, thus causing minimal damage to the business. If you do have insurance, make sure to give your insurance officer a call first before making ...
... arrangements with car rental companies. Find out about the extent of the coverage, up to the little details.

Exhaust All Leads

It can be quite daunting to comb through listings on the internet in order to find a long term car rental deal, but this is worth the effort. Don't just rely on the internet though. Check out the phonebook and other possible sources and call the rentals one by one. Yes, call them, not just email. Even if you have ample time to spare before your vacation, it's best to get a faster response from them, which you can get by calling them personally instead of waiting for their email response.

Know your itinerary

Even if you manage to get a good rental deal, you may still end up losing that if your travel plans do not agree with their policies. Many expat rentals in France or other foreign countries do not allow their vehicles to be taken out of the country or cross international borders. Some do allow that, but only for certain make and models of cars. When speaking to a rental company representative, make sure to let them know such details to make sure you can drive their vehicle anywhere you need to go.

Score the Discounts

As a senior citizen, you are entitled to discounts; therefore, don't hesitate to ask for it when negotiating for your car rental.
