Make An Unconventional Coat Rack Or Jewellery And Scarf Hanger

1. Hanging coat rack
If you're lacking in floor space and wall space, then use some ceiling space instead. Use wires to hang your rack, which could be anything from a curtain rod to a strong branch you found in the garden, to the ceiling, and use coat hangers or attach hooks to the bottom so that people can hang their things up as they walk under it.
2. Bits and bobs
If you're bored of the conventional coat racks and want to make your own, you can give it character by making it out of some of the things you find lying around your home. For example, if you're making one for a children's room, use old broken toys to make the hooks.
3. Suction hooks
For a really simple coat hanger which can be easily adjusted if need be, you can attach hooks to suction cups. Depending on the strength of the cups, you might find that this idea is better for making a hat or scarf hanger, or a towel rack in the bathroom, rather than a coat rack. However, it's super handy because if you're starting to run out of space, you can simply make some more and stick them up next to the ones you currently have. You might ...
... have to think carefully about where you put these, though, as suction cups will only work on smooth surfaces.
4. Old doorknobs
Ever walked around a hardware shop and looked at all the pretty doorknobs, wishing there was a way you could put them all in your home? Well, now you can! Simply attach a variety of doorknobs to a painted plank of wood, and you'll have yourself a beautiful coat rack in minutes. This is great because if you run out of space, you can purchase more doorknobs, attach another piece of wood underneath the one you have already and make another row. A great and handy way of keeping pretty finds in your home without creating clutter.
5. Go natural
Never underestimate the potential for making things out of natural materials. The things you see in your garden every day could easily be turned into a masterpiece with a little creativity. To make a coat rack, the best things you can use are probably branches, as they have the right shape and it's easy to find one strong enough to hold your coats. They can be painted, sawed, glued and generally reshaped to form an artistic sculpture, and they are completely flexible with size, so even if you only want a little branch to make a jewellery or scarf hanger, you can find one the size you want, or chop up a larger one. Branches and wood are great for creating that sweet rustic look in your home.
