The Columbia River Knife and Tool Company (CRKT) is an Oregon based company run by Rod and Peggy Bremer. It was established in 1994 as a primarily American based company but has recently followed the trend of other knife making companies in the US, and shifted production off to countries like China and Taiwan.

The company rose to fame and financial success with K.I.S.S. knife (Keep It Super Simple). The design sold astronomically and established the company as a major knife maker. However, soon afterwards, the company was embroiled in league troubles when major shipping worth $4.3 million was stopped by US agents after confusion arose over the classification of the knives. Although the shipment was later cleared, the company reportedly suffered a loss of over $1 million due to the delay.
