Blog Giveaway - Running successful blog giveaways requires planning and a lot of promotion. There are thousands of giveaways online with some well done and some that very poorly done.
Every Blog Giveaway has the ability to boost traffic and to create more readers if they are done right.
Here are some tips that can help when developing a Blog Giveaway and creating more success.

Many bloggers seem to think that if they just put together a Blog Giveaway, it will automatically bring a ton of traffic and entrants. That could not be farther from the truth. A effective Blog Giveaway requires work and promotion. Keep reading for some great tips and ideas on running a successful giveaway that will help bring more traffic to your blog.
There are common mistakes to avoid when running a Blog Giveaway.
The most common error is not including all the complete information. If the basic information on the prize or prizes and how to enter is not be found, many will simply close the page without entering.
A Blog Giveaway is usually done in conjunction with the review of a product. They can be long and drawn ...
... out with a lot of images. There are a lot of Blog Giveaways that bury entry information in the middle of a long post and then do not use any formatting to make it stand out. Most people who enter a Blog Giveaway don't read every review. They will skim over the post, looking for an entry form and instructions. If it can not be easily found, they will not enter your Blog Giveaway. It is that simple.

There are tons of Blog Giveaways running all the time. The more people enter Blog Giveaways, the more likely they are to win. So people want to enter a lot of different giveaways to increase their chances of winning something. When they come across a Blog Giveaway that makes you complete several steps just to receive one entry, they are going to pass up that Blog Giveaway and look for another.

People want to know what they are entering so you need to explain everything in detail. As an example: The prize is for a $25 gift card but if you only state "gift card" in your post, that is going to turn away potential entrants.

People are visual so you must include a clear picture of the prize for your Blog Giveaway. They want to see what they have a chance to win in addition to being told. If your post doesn't have an image at all or if they image is blurry, that is a turn-off.

There needs to be an end date for your Blog Giveaway. If you don't include an end date for your giveaway, people are less likely to trust that it is a legitimate giveaway. Your readers can't read your mind. You need to tell them exactly when the Blog Giveaway ends. You also need to state what countries can enter. You will lose people because if they are not sure they will not waste their time and enter.

Another huge turn-off is a Blog Giveaway that has several grammatical and spelling errors. People won't bother entering if your giveaway seems amateurish.

If your entry instructions are vague. You will risk losing out on potential entrants if they can't figure out exactly how it is that you submit your entry.

A big “No, No” is if you require a purchase or donation to receive an entry. This is very illegal in the US and is considered a lottery.

Offering too many entry methods. The prize value should be taken into account. Do you really need to have 100 different ways to enter? While people might be willing to complete 10-20 entries for a larger value prize, they are less likely to jump through those same hoops to enter to win a $5-$10 prize. Less is more no matter how big the prize is.

A mistake that many people make is running their Blog Giveaway for a long period of time. It is more common for sweepstakes to have a long entry period due to national campaigns. Typically, a Blog Giveaway will run for 1-2 weeks. Running a Blog Giveaway for longer than that doesn't really result in that many more entries and is just more work. However, it depends on what you are giving away. If the prize given away is a vacation or a large cash prize you definitely would run it for a lot longer then 2 weeks. You will get a surge of entries when the giveaway is first promoted and then it will tapper off. However, in the middle, you may only get a few entries a day. Again, it all depends how you promote the Blog Giveaway.

Good Luck,
