Russia becomes one of the worst performing countries in the world during the financial crisis. Some people say that country is unstable, political risk are high and I agree with it but price is also attractive. There are about twenty first tier equity companies in Russia. Most of them are oil and gas companies, for instance, Gazprom or Lukoil but there are banks (Sberbank - the biggest Russian bank, VTB), utility companies (RusHydro, OGC), auto producers (Gaz and Avtovaz). These companies are quite liquid. For instance, it is not a problem to buy first tier equities on one million dollar. There is a possibility to trade second tier Russian equities and some successful investors has an outstanding returns . You can do it through Russian brokerages companies that offer internet trading service. Usually they provide trading platform for free. It might be Quik or proprietary platform. I recommend you to use Quik because this system is faster and widely supported. There is also an option to use Webquik which is a web based platform that can work without installation anywhere. Brokerage companies also offer a research or you can work ...
... with some private Consulting service on the Russian equity market to guide you through. Some people prefer to work with help of professional portfolio/asset managers experienced on the Russian equity market . Retail brokerage companies have insignificant fees. They usually charge about 0,04% from turnover, some companies do not even have custodian fees. What you have to do is to sign agreements, install trading system and start trading.
