Preparations Before You See A Doctor For Your Varicose Veins

Your varicose veins have been troubling you for quite some time now. Okay, this is natural because of their terrible appearance but your primary concern is more on the swelling and pain. You are scared that you may be into something serious. Why not call for appointment and see your primary care doctor? But first, here are the things that you should do:
1. Take note of all your experiences, which you think are related to your condition. In case there are other things that you observe but are not sure if they have connection to your varicose veins, you should still write them down. Your physician will be the one to say if they are not associated with your situation.
Additionally, you will have to inform your specialist about the first time your varicose veins appeared. If you are feeling pain, determine its severity from 1 to 10. It is also vital that you tell him if you have existing healthcare concern.
2. List down all the medicines, vitamins and supplements that you are currently taking. If possible, bring with you the doctor’s prescriptions.
3. Jot down - or keep in mind - the family history ...
... of varicose veins. Who among the family members are going through the same thing? What are the symptoms they suffer from? What are the solutions they made or are making? Some of these sets of information may contribute to your treatment in the nearest future.
4. Do you have a lot of question in mind? Write them down and don’t forget to ask these to your doctors. As you obtain more details about your varicose veins, you will be able to feel more comfortable with your situation and more importantly, with the treatment solutions. If you are not sure about what questions to ask, consider these in your list:
- What causes my symptoms?
- What are the reasons behind my varicose veins?
- What treatment methods are available for me and what can they do to my condition?
- Are there any other alternative cures?
- Do I need to avoid eating some foods as of the moment?
- Do I need to prevent myself from doing some activities?
- How much is the procedure? Is it covered by my insurance provider?
After doing all the items above, you are now ready to call your doctor for appointment. For the meantime, you may take a rest and avoid doing things that will worsen your condition. If your work requires that you stand for a longer period of time, you may consider taking a break if you think you can no longer bear the pain. Take this as an opportunity to lie down in bed or sit in your sofa while watching your favorite TV program. Make sure that your legs are elevated.
Before the day of the appointment, call the clinic again for confirmation. Prepare yourself by sleeping early. Be sure to get to the clinic earlier than the expected time.
