Continental Airlines – A Great Airline To Fly With

Continental Airlines is the pioneer in introducing boarding passes via mobile phones and PDA. During its tenure, it was operating in 130 domestic as well as 132 international destinations. Its first alliance was with SkyTeam and it joined the Star Alliance group in 2009 leaving the SkyTeam alliance. Before its merger with United Airlines, the headquarters of the Continental Airlines was situated at 77 West Wacker in Chicago, Illinois. The noble contribution of this airline is the effort shown towards reducing greenhouse emission and global warming. It took active participation in the vast scale reforestation by collecting funds from sources. It even invested in high-tech aviation parts to minimize noise pollution and fuel consumption.
After United Airlines acquired the airlines, it got renamed as United Airlines under its parent name. Continental airline’s fleet consisted of Boeing series 737, 757, 767, and 777 and these series had 10 variants (Boeing 737–500, Boeing 737–700, Boeing 737–800, Boeing 737–900, Boeing 737-900ER, Boeing 757–200, Boeing 757–300, Boeing 767-200ER, Boeing 767-400ER, Boeing 777-200ER, ...
... Boeing 787–8, Boeing 787–9).
CAL had Domestic First Class/International Business Class and two Economy classes namely International Economy Class and Domestic Economy Class of travel. The domestic First Class was available within domestic flights (Boeing 737 series & Boeing 757–300). The seats were around 20.75 to 21 inches wide, and pitch was around 37-38 inches. Free refreshments, meals and beverages were offered to passengers traveling in this class. Overhead screens were also provided for watching movies. In the NextGen Boeing 737 series and Boeing 757–300, free live television and Wi-Fi service was offered to on board passengers.
When on international trips to Canada, Latin America, few cities in South America and the Caribbean, this class was assigned International Business Class brand. These passengers had access to Presidents Club of Continental and lounges of Star Alliance on the day of departure.
All international flights had Economy Class with them. The seats were around 17.2-17.9 inches wide and had around 31-32 inches of pitch. Passengers traveling in this class were provided with meals, snacks, and beverages (non-alcoholic) for free. Alcoholic beverages had to be purchased. The seats on 757 and 777 Boeings were fitted with touch screen device which had facility for watching movies and television shows along with playing games and listening to music.
Continental Airlines took good care of its passengers' food habits. It offered some free special meals on certain flights like meals for children, for gluten intolerant persons, vegetarian meal for Hindus, Jain Meal, Kosher Meal, Muslim Meal and Vegan options. On trips to Latin America, local cuisines were offered to passengers on board.
The frequent flier program of the Continental Airlines was OnePass, which offered regular passengers free tickets once in a while. Its elite tiers were namely Silver, Gold, and Platinum and offered privileges such as free upgrades, priority check-in and boarding.
