You might become frustrated when trying to train your dog, even more so if you just got your him. This article will provide you with some valuable advice to make training your dog a little easier.

When correcting your dog, be concise. Don't berate your dog with a lengthy speech. Just say no, then show it what to do instead. Your tone should be stern to let them know you are serious.

Be patient when teaching your dog, it will take some time. It isn't unusual to have to repeat a trick dozens of times before the dog understands. Firmly and steadily repeat the command. Remain patient and eventually the command will be learned.

Look at it in your dog's point of view. Frustration can be easily acquired if the dog fails to learn simple things in a rapid manner. Instead of giving up entirely, you might consider trying to put yourself in your dog's mindset. Your dog may not understand because it hasn't been said enough.

Encourage your dog to be as active as possible. Dogs become bored very easily. Bored dogs are difficult to train. Your dogs will obey more quickly if you keep them well exercised. A long walk ...
... or a brisk run are great ways to get rid of some of your dog's excess energy.

Consistency is really the secret to crate training puppies. If you remove the pup from the crate, see to it that he has the means to go potty. As time passes, your puppy will start to be able to use the restroom at the appropriate times.

A dog needs to be trained from the outset. It is easier to instill good habits than it is to deal with bad ones. If you do not want the dog to beg for table scraps, then never give it any food from the table to start with.

Use the right size crate for effective crate training. Puppies will grow up quite quickly. Select a crate that is large enough for them to fit in when they are older. They have to be comfortable moving around inside to ensure they aren't crowded.

It is very easy to teach a pooch to roll over as long as you have some tasty treats on hand. First, have the dog lay down. Then hold one treat near his head and near the floor. Pull the treat over the dog until your hand is on the other side. Your dog is probably going to follow the treat in your hand with his nose, which means he will rollover his whole body. As he rolls over say out loud, "roll over." Repeat this until he rolls over with the command alone. It may take some time for your dog to perfect the trick, but it's a popular move and one that is sure to impress others.

Anxiety in dogs often leads to destructive behavior like chewing or clawing. Placing the dog in a safe environment such as a dog crate and providing a chew toy keeps the dog safe and occupied until your return.

If your dog has a problem with excessive barking, take note of the environment and situation. When you know what causes it, you'll be able to train him in those situations. For example, if strange people or animals cause your dog to bark, then you might need to spend more time socializing.

Now that you have this knowledge, you can shape your dog into a calm, obedient animal that will delight your entire family. You will notice a positive change in your dog's behavior as soon as you start utilizing these strategies.
