When you are suffering from Sinusitis you are experiencing a swelling in the lining of your sinuses. A person's sinuses are the spaces that are between the bones in their face where air passes and where a fluid called mucus drains into the nose.

When a person is suffering from sinusitis the swelling that is occurring is blocking the openings where mucus is able to drain into the nose. When the mucus in a person's nose cannot drain properly it can be a very painful experience.

It is extremely common for people to suffer from this uncomfortable condition. A case of sinusitis will very often mirror the symptoms of a common head cold that can be accompanied by both a stuffy or runny nose and moderate to severe head pain. There are many occasions where sinusitis will clear up on it's own, other times simple over the counter medications will help clear it up and there are a few instances where surgery is needed to remedy the condition.

Acute sinusitis is most definitely the most painful instance of this affliction while many will find that chronic sinusitis is more uncomfortable then it is painful. When you ...
... are battling a severe case of sinusitis you can be suffering from any of the following painful symptoms.

* Pain in the roof of your mouth and/or teeth
* Pain of varying degrees over the bridge of the nose
* Eye and facial pain
* Throat pain
* Pain in the Ear mimicking an ear infection.
* Head pain of varying degrees that can depend on actions such as bending over and riding in elevators.

As you can see having a case of sinusitis can put a person in a world or hurt. Sinusitis can be treated with several types of remedies including antibiotics, saline and steroid nasal sprays and allergy shots given over a set period of time. Should you be suffering from sinusitis and experiencing a headache accompanied by vomiting you need to seek medical attention right away as it can be the first signs that you have meningitis which means that your illness has spread to your brain.
