Steering wheel is one of the most important parts of every vehicle that humans use. Though the shape and size of all these steering wheels are different, they perform the same functions more or less. Like any other vehicle, the motorized boats also make use of steering wheels. These steering wheels for boats look similar to that of a car steering wheel but it has a different setting altogether. Every fond lover of a boat must know the technical aspects regarding installation of these steering wheels and taking care of them as and when they would need.
The following steps can be of great help for you, in case you are a fond lover of boating:
Step 1: The problems in the functioning of the steering wheel are mainly caused by the worn out boat steering cable that is an important part of the setting. You are required to take out the cable first. This cable is located under the footboard just behind the place where the motor appears. This is a relatively thin wire that is connected to the gas tank. You can release it from there by putting a little effort.
Step 2: ...
... As the space at the place is little small do you need to make more space for you to work. You can do it easily by unscrewing the top and the bottom screws. You can use a rudder for this task that you can find in the toolbox.
Step 3: You can see enough space there to move the seat for the driver forward. You can now crawl through the dashboard holding a wrench in your hands. You need to be a little patient here as your next task would be remove the cable from its socket. Taking the wrench, you can remove the bolt from there to free the cable from its place. You can see a few more cables there that you can also take out.
Step 4: It is now time to fix the new steering wheel cable in the place of the old one. Take the cable out of its hull and fix it inside the socket. You also need to put the screws back at their place. Tighten the screws very carefully with the help of the wrench.
Step 5: In this step, you would place the steering wheel at its usual place and fix it carefully. Make sure that the steering wheel is fixed at its place in the right manner. Your task is nearly done and now you are required to put things back at their usual place.
Step 6: Come out of the dashboard and push the driver’s seat backwards to put it as its usual place. In the end, you must screw all the bolts that you had removed at the time you actually began. The process of installing the new boat steering wheel is now complete and you can now get ready for a wonderful and exciting ride again. Have you started feeling the pulse?
