Many websites on the Internet are available that can supply a variety of free papers for students ranging from high school through PhD programs. These papers run the gambit from simple book reports all the way up to complicated dissertations with full references. The availability of such a wide range of papers and their generally free availability on the Internet make them quite a useful resource for struggling student. How the student chooses to use these resources will lead to either the rise or the eventual demise of these popular texts.

To what degree the student uses the free papers that are available online can have both a beneficial as well as a detrimental effect on the students' college experience and future career. Many students use these free resources as a guide when creating their own papers. Due to the combined efforts of universities, software companies and the general public desire for an increase in ethics at the university level, the clamping down of plagiarism on the college campus is occurring. The use of free papers as reference material is beneficial and will probably continue but technology is being used to ensure that this material is not being used as a substitute for the creative effort and hard work of the student.
