The quaint little city of Marylebone inherited its name from a church which was dedicated to the beloved St. Mary. The original church was constructed near a small Bourne (also known as a stream) referred to as Tybourne. Over time the city became known as St. Mary at the Bourne. Eventually the name was shortened to Marylebone as we know it today.
