Upscale Airport Hotels

Travelers committed to flying via cheap fares, whether on cheap airplane tickets or cheap vacation packages and are on the lookout for cheap auto rentals and discount hotel rooms sometimes have to endure extended layovers at airport.
Airport hotels typically used to be places where travelers could shower, rehydrate, and recuperate from traveling, but seldom a preferred destination.
Historically many of the best and most impressive airport hotels were in Asia, including the Regal in Hong Kong and the Crowne Plaza in Singapore. Now airport hotels in Europe, the United States, Latin America and elsewhere are starting to catch up.
Select airport hotels around the world have begun to cater to business and high end leisure travelers and are bringing technology, design, and style to the international stopover:
• The Hilton Frankfurt Airport is a stylish airport considered “the best connected spot in Europe” adjacent to the airport’s commuter train station and sits between two major autobahns.
• The Sheraton Malpensa Hotel in Milan is home to a series of glass modules lined up like teeth ...
... of a comb, making it a shining jewel in the world capital of design.
• The Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway is a two minute ride from the terminal via SkyTrain and is LEED certified with a lobby floor made of terrazzo embedded with glass.
• The Aloft San Francisco International Airport is newly renovated, with its dropped ceilings recently removed giving it an airy feel and expanded lobby large enough to house its new active bar area.
• Hilton Heathrow Terminal 5 in the U.K. greets guests with a glamorous all white main lobby staircase and unique glitzy light fixtures. It has perfectly manicured exterior grounds as well as a celebrity chef help make this hotel a hot spot.
• The Element International Airport Hotel sports a Pilot program where electricity can be generated by guests pumping hard on the hotel’s stationary bikes. The Element’s health conscious hospitality approach is evident from its fully equipped kitchens, nutritious menus, and bathrooms with mood improving lighting.
• The ALT Hotel Pearson at Toronto’s International Airport has a global flair with its original art, Egyptian cotton lines, and Fruits & Passion bath products.
• The Custom Hotel at the Los Angeles International Airport appeals to guests sense of whimsy with themed gimmicks such as Pan Am inspired staff uniforms and its Hangar Lounge.
• The Steigenberger Airport Hotel in Berlin sports an outdoor reflecting pool, a lobby bistro, and a fitness center with a gym, sauna, and steam bath.
• The Lotte City Hotel Gimpo Airport in South Korea has a very understated and refined feel and offers a much needed break from the massive theme park mall complex located within the airport.
