Many parents trust that the education system will teach children everything they need to know and tend to take a step back as they gain in confidence. The truth is that, when you do take that step back, it’s hard to then take a step forward again. This is why it is so important that you do everything you can to kickstart their learning process early on in life. Learning a second language is not as common in England as it is in many other places across the world, and it is not compulsory for children to learn a foreign language in school – although most schools ensure that they take a GCSE in at least one language, subjects like English, maths and science are usually considered to be more important.

As we all know too well, a lot of the things that we learn at school don’t always find a place in the working world. However, there are tons of benefits to introducing your child to a second language, but the one that really stands out is the strength and advantage it provides them when it comes to seeking future employment. Many businesses deal with contacts and clients around the world, meaning that a second ...
... language is highly sought-after in many industries and would allow your child to stand out above any other candidates.

Beginning to learn another language from a young age will encourage children to pursue it when they start school. In Britain children can opt out of studying a language when they turn 15, which we want to avoid if possible. It is proven that children learn faster and retain more information when they feel confident about their subject, so if they have already a base to start with they will surely exceed all expectations when it comes to formal schooling.

The majority of schools in the UK teach two or all of French, Spanish and German. Each language has its benefits, but if you decide to choose French then your child can take advantage of the regular school trips to France that are often organised by teachers.

School tours are brilliant for language learners as they are able to apply their studies to real life. School tours are also a great way to educate children on the geography aspect, opening their eyes to the rest of the world. They will also develop a greater understanding of global diversity and different cultures.

School trips to France will help them build up their confidence in talking to different nationalities and groups. They will also be able to visit places that they might never have been before – the country is extremely varied, with UK-esque countryside battling for space with small towns and villages throughout areas like Normandy and Brittany. Paris alone has enough to take up a good week of learning and sightseeing – as long as teachers book accommodation that is comfortable with hosting groups of schoolchildren, this should be a trip that they’ll never forget (hopefully for the right reasons!).
