Bandipur National Park – The Perfect Escape Into Wilderness

Bandipur, a calm and quiet place hidden amongst the thick greenery of Karnataka. It was established in the year 1931 and it is a very beautiful wildlife center. Every year, tourists visit Bandipur to enjoy the beauty of this place, the nature and also the calm and quiet environment that it is famous for. Bandipur is situated in Chamarajanagar district.
Located in the Nilgiris, this town is edged by the Moyar, Nugu and Kabini Rivers which flood this area. Apart from the rivers, you can also find many streams that are seasonal, and flow through this region. Bandipur is under the Nilgiri-Biosphere-Reserve and so, it is also the country’s first biosphere reserve known till date. The town makes a very beautiful and enjoyable stay. You also get to enjoy Bandipur Campfire and Bandipur Bonfire in the evenings and at night.

... home of some very large animals like Hornbills, Elephants, Sambars, the Wild Dog, the Giant Squirrel, Partridges and Deers. You can also find endangered species like the Four-Horned Antelope, Panthers, Sloth Bears, Pythons, Mouse Deers, Pea Fowls and a few more. Besides this, the place also houses some exotic trees like methi, bamboo, and teak. There are 2 wildlife sanctuaries attached to Bandipur - Mudumalai Sanctuary and Waynad Sanctuary. You won’t find any human settlement in or around the Reserve, but there are around 200 villages in the outskirts of this area. This is an excellent tourist spot and makes a memorable stay for those who visit it. Bandipur Resorts and Bandipur Hotels are classy and at par with the tourists. Bandipur Homestay is famous as well.
