When you first purchase your ID card printer you may wonder what supplies you may need. When we talk about accessories we are addressing the needs that you will have in order to keep your ID card printer going on a daily basis.

Things You Will Need

There are a variety of things you will need to have on hand on a regular basis. Here are the basics you should think about:

Printer Ribbons - notice this says ribbons and not cartridges. Because an ID card printer is a different type of printer it uses ribbons so you will need to know the size and type of ribbon your printer uses. You will also want t o know whether your printer needs a black ribbon or whether you have a multi-colored one.

ID Cards -- although many people may think this is a logical choice we don't always think about it when we are in the middle of printing something. A good supply of ID cards is essential especially when you are working with a lot of ID cards every day. Make sure you know the type of ID cards your ID card printer uses.

Cables -- this is just a reminder that you may want to keep an extra cable available in case something ...
... happens to the first one. There is nothing more frustrating than when a cable decides to malfunction when you are in the middle of an ID card project.

Cleaning kit -- although many people may not see this as an accessory it is because it helps your ID card printer run more smoothly and it can extend the life of it. Purchasing a kit is a better idea than trying to use harmful chemicals on the machine. Usually you can purchase a kit that is specifically created for your model.

Things You Will Need To Support ID Printing

Badge Holders -- although this may be more a general supply in many cases, it is an essential piece of the ID card printer accessories if you are going to present an entire package. If you purchase these for your employees it is a better idea to keep several on hand in case of loss or in case you are making new ID cards.

Badge Clips -- if you have badge holders you will need clips to go with them. A good supply kept on hand will ensure that you don't run out. Badge clips come in a variety of styles and you might want to look at several before you buy.

ID Camera and other supplies -- if you are using a camera to take pictures you will want to have a tripod and possible backdrop cloths to make sure that your pictures will be printed in the way you want them to print.

There are a variety of accessories for photo ID cards to have on hand. It is easier to replace several than to try and find a few when you need them. Also, shopping online can bring you the best bargains.
