Part-time Dubai Maids Claim They’re Not Paid Right
Many women who are working for a maid agency UAE that deals in providing maid services on a part-time basis are objecting that they are compelled to work for lengthy hours that too with low wages whereas their boss is apparently making money considering that the business has been efficient.
They say that they travel from home to home to perform domestic tasks which are very tough and tiring and in spite of that they are paid a monthly wage of Dh1200.
A Filipina maid says that she works for eight hours a day with at least two hours in each home. She claims her sponsor owns a housemaid agencies in Dubai is an Emirati woman. She adds that she lives in a sharing accommodation rented by the sponsor in Ajman with other house helpers.
An Ethiopian housemaid also complains that she has a huge work load and is paid Dh1200 which she argues is not proportionate to the amount of work she is doing.
Another Ethiopian says that their employer is an Emirati lady as well and she sponsors about 40 maids who are managed by a Filipina woman. ...
... This lady gives them their salaries and arranges for conveyance and other matters related to them.
The maid agency charges Dh35 to Dh40 per hour, which means that they earn about Dh8000 per maid every month, allege the maids.
The Ministry of Labor official says that the ministry just issues licenses to full time placement agencies like maid agencies in Abu Dhabi and housemaid agencies in Dubai and never to part time offices. He adds that they are not connected any way with domestic helpers. The ministry had previously barred companies offering cleaning services from permitting their workers to work in homes because they are just permitted to send workers to work for businesses.
Employing a part time housemaid is suitable for a number of families in Dubai even though it could be expensive.
A Jordanian woman says she hires a part time maid as she is a working woman. She says that the maid works at her home for three hours per day, twice a week and she pays the maid’s employer an hourly rate of Dh40.
Another working woman says that she has hired a housemaid who wears a uniform, every alternate day for two hours and she pays Dh40 per hour for the maid. She says that the maid complains that she is not happy and will go back home.
