Women Must Test Their Hormone Levels Regularly
Hormones in a woman’s body are responsible for female fertility, menstrual cycle, pre-menopausal as well as post-menopausal changes and many other health issues concerning her health. Often it is not realized that hormonal imbalance causes many problems like miscarriages, infertility, irregular menstrual cycles and decreasing libido.
Women in the modern world are trying to balance so much at the same time on the professional and personal fronts that when they suffer from symptoms of a hormonal imbalance they dismiss them as signs of tiredness. This leads to hormonal imbalances remaining undiagnosed for long periods of time, sometimes even years, which can affect the state of a woman’s health and cause illnesses.
Hormonal tests should be conducted regularly to be able to identify imbalances so that corrective measures can be taken. Understanding and keeping hormones in check can help greatly in keeping a woman healthy and happy. With hormonal testing a lady can better understand and rectify problems like hair loss, excessive hair growth, thyroid, weight gain, weight loss, menstrual irregularity and a host ...
... of other issues.
There is an exhaustive list of health problems caused by hormonal imbalances that are best diagnosed by hormone testing. These include – Irritability, Uterine cancer, Uterine cramps, Breast swelling with pain, Breast tenderness, Decreased sex drive, Increased blood clotting, Infertility, Fatigue, Foggy thinking, Headaches, Water retention, Bloating, Irrational hunger, Uterine fibroids, Allergies, Pelvic pain, Depression, Miscarriage, Bone loss, Memory loss, Hypoglycemia, Hot flashes, Mucous symptoms and Osteoporosis, amongst others.
These hosts of health issues in women are caused by the imbalances occurring in important hormones such as Estrogen, Thyroid, Testosterone, Melatonin, Aldosterone, Cortisol, Ghrelin and Leptin. Excessive body weight may cause estrogen levels to increase. Fat cells in the body produce the Estrogen hormone. An imbalance in this hormone can cause uterine and breast cancers. In menopausal women, often the estrogen levels drop low leading to symptoms such as headaches, hot flashes and joint pain.
The Thyroid hormone in a woman’s body regulates how fast she can burn calories. Thyroid imbalance can occur in two forms – hypothyroidism, in which not enough of it is produced and hyperthyroidism, in which too much of the hormone is produced. Hypothyroidism is characterized by a woman feeling fatigued all the time, experiencing depression and gaining weight. In hyperthyroidism a lady experiences problems like anxiety, a racing heart, excessive sweating and diarrhea.
The regular hormone testing for women is vital for their overall health and well-being. Testosterone imbalance is caused by a decrease in the production of sex hormones. This is characterized by a loss of libido in women. Excessive testosterone levels leads to irregular menses, excessive body hair and male-pattern baldness. Melatonin imbalances cause depression and disturbed sleep.
The Aldosterone hormone is responsible for regulating the sodium-to-water ratio in the body. A condition referred to as renal artery stenosis can occur, which causes sudden high blood pressure. Chronic stress is to be avoided as it causes the levels of Cortisol hormone to rise in the body leading in the long term to the suppression of the immune system. It is characterized by the accumulation of abdominal fat.
An imbalance in the Ghrelin and Leptin hormones upsets your body’s hunger alarm. When you are hungry, it is ghrelin telling the brain about it; when you finish eating, it is leptin telling the brain that you are full. But when an imbalance occurs, your stomach fails to recognize when you are satiated, leading to over eating.
