Online shopping may be bigger this season due to the instability of the economy compounded with the easy accessibility of online shopping. Millions of products and gifts are literally at your finger tips. Tired of fighting off fellow shoppers at the mall and Wall-Mart? You don't want to end up getting trampled trying to get into the store. Too cold to go outside but still need to get more than half of the items on your holiday shopping list? Get with the times! Put on your favorite comfy winter pants, make something nice to drink, and take a seat at your computer. You can knock out your entire holiday shopping list in just a few hours with the right strategies and methods to online shopping. Here are my Dos and Don'ts of this season's online shopping

* Make sure to buy from large companies / sites

o If you want to buy something specific try to go to the original company's site, if not then make sure the site selling the product is a legitimate source.

o If you can't figure out whether the site is legitimate, try looking at the page rank, if the page rank is lower than 6 then stay away.

* Also, read the terms, conditions, and the rest of the fine print

* Make sure they have good shipping policies

* Always make sure there is a number you can call incase anything goes wrong

* Ebay / Amazon

o You can really find some good deals on these sites, also you might be able to find something specific that you won't be able to find on other ecommerce sites
o Just make sure to read the reviews of the people you are buying from
o Make sure to frequently check the items you are bidding on, you don't want someone to outbid you at the last moment and get stuck with not getting the perfect gift for your loved one, be competitive

* Take your time

o When it comes to buying online gifts, set a few hours aside per day. There are thousands of websites out there that sell similar products, some may be cheaper than others but you will never find out if you just buy from the first site that you see with your desired product
o My advice, make bookmark folders for each gift that you are looking for. When you find sites that have the desired item, add them to your bookmark folder. After you exhaust yourself searching for all the sites, take some time and go through each site in the folders. Choose the site with either the best price or the most reliable and go from there.
o When you go to the mall looking for a sweatshirt you don't walk into one store, buy it, and leave. The same should go with online shopping, feel free to browse

* Understand what to buy, and what not to buy online

o Toys, video games, sporting equipment, jerseys, hats, purses, make-up. These are all YES, use your best judgment

o Jewelry, expensive designer clothing, - NO, high priced items are something that you want tangible in front of you before you make a large purchase. It can be difficult to shop for clothes online, if they don't fitwhat is the exchange policy? I doubt anyone will go through the hassle of sending an item back for a different size. Unless you are 100% sure of the size and want of the item, then buy it in person

With these tips and tricks hopefully you can save some time shopping in the fiasco of retail stores this holiday season.
