Children Can Achieve More With Holistic Learning Disabilities Treatment

Perhaps a child has been diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, dyslexia or other learning or developmental disability. If parents have always felt that he or she could achieve more, then it’s possible that a new assessment can help. Some achievement centers espouse a mental, physical and dietary approach to helping kids who are challenged with various learning and developmental issues. These treatments are backed up by research and more research is being done every day. The first step to finding out about alternative treatments is to have the child assessed. Usually these assessments are designed as fun activities for kids. They allow evaluators to make a detailed diagnosis of not only the obvious symptoms but the underlying causes of the problems. Once these causes are identified, then the holistic approach that takes into account diet, mental and physical activities can be introduced. The parents are depended upon to work with the achievement center’s staff as any work done at the center will need to be reinforced at home.

The results can be remarkable. While each child will respond at a different rate and within parameters that are dictated by his or her own capabilities, many parents are amazed at the changes. Some children diagnosed as autistic work at achievement centers and are tested again later, with no signs of the previous diagnosis for autism. Other children develop the ability to speak in a more fluent and sophisticated way, and many others are able to do much better in school. Kids 4-17 are usually the best candidates for these achievement programs as they will be able to understand the procedures and gain the most benefit from them.

No parent wants to accept a diagnosis of a developmental or learning disability for their child. While some of these problems can be complex, re-assessment can often identify ways to help kids. Usually students at achievement centers attend lessons a few times per week. They are supported by the center through some of the directors visiting the child’s school to ensure progress is being made. Parents are asked to help reinforce the center’s teachings in the home. Ultimately many of the children who participate in the educational programs offered by achievement centers can enjoy richer lives. Reliance on drugs and other medical interventions can often be reduced or eliminated for many children participating in these achievement center programs.
