Cork wall tile is an ideal option for making bulletin boards, a cork pin board or just as cladding for the walls. No matter which way you look at it, cork products are here to stay. Cork floating flooring has become very popular with DIY enthusiasts. Its hassle-free installation means that no time is wasted. When it comes to cork there are absolutely no limitations and design and style is all about what you want it to be. A cork wall tile pattern can be very interesting and the range of colors and shades is huge. Most patterns display the natural tones of the cork tree.

Some cork floating flooring is made of recycled cork material and may be used for cladding walls, the floors or even the ceiling. Ceiling tiles are generally not used in residences. They are used in recording studios where acoustics are required or in areas where thermal insulation is needed. Some home owners have elected to use light colored cork flooring tiles as ceiling tiles for a quick and easy fix for those noisy upstairs neighbors. Cork is a self-healing material and push-pins do not damage it. It makes any room look attractive and it also has hypo-allergenic ...
... and anti-microbial properties. It is used in both commercial and residential applications.

Cork is also highly durable, easy to repair and maintain as well. Since cork floating flooring is not really one sheet but several planks set together, if some damage does take place, those specific planks can be replaced. The edges and joints should ideally be sealed with a polyurethane coating. This prevents it from getting damaged and it provides it an additional moisture-proof coating. Some designers also create interesting patterns with a mix-and-match of cork and wood or even ceramic or stone.

This is all a matter of designing and cork is a very versatile material and looks good in any setting. It can be used in any room including areas that have water, like bathrooms and kitchens. It does not stain very easily and as long as there is no constant water-drip or standing water on it, it will last a long time. Cork can be used in all indoor spaces but it should not be used outdoors. The sun and rain will damage it and it tends to fade and crumble when it is exposed to the elements. Some cork flooring is the glue-down variety but it is the floating floor that can be installed on any sub-floor.

Cork underlayment can be used to even-out the existing floor. It deadens sound and is a good alternative to wooden flooring. Portugal is known for its cork production. It is available in tile, plank, parquet tile, wall tile and underlayment form. All of these are made from cork that is harvested from the cork trees that grow in this Mediterranean region. It is an eco-friendly product and a renewable source. The trees are harvested with care and after every harvesting are left to re-grow for the next 9-15 years. There are several companies that manufacture cork and you can now buy it online as well. These stores also have service personnel to install the flooring for you.
