Nearly every construction process leaves behind clouds of dust that later become dust blankets. Removing this dust can be a bothersome task as well as a challenging one. Two of the key elements for successfully completing this task are patience and perseverance. The others, essentially, are the appropriate tools, required for the job.

The said tools you'll require are:

-Air filters
-Soft towels
-A broom
-Tape
-Used dryer sheets
-A vacuum
-A mop

Since construction and renovations projects tend to build up large quantities of dust, removing all of the dust will take several tries.

The first thing you need to know, is that dust needs to be trapped and NOT simply wiped away, as it will simply land in a new location. Knowing this, you should first check the air filters you have at home and replace them (if needed). They can be helpful in trapping dust but they can also push it back into the air if they don't get cleaned and replaced on a regular basis.

Some of the most obvious dust-attractors are shelves and ledges as well as vertical surfaces, ...
... such as walls. While we think that dust gathers only on horizontal surfaces, it tends to build-up on vertical surfaces as well. The shelves and/or ledges can be cleaned with a soft towel, moistened with water. Walls can be cleaned the same way, you'll just need to strap the wet towel on top of a broom handle and work your way from the top of the wall to the bottom.

Warning: If the walls you want to clean have been painted recently, DO NOT use anything moist on them as it will damage the coating.

If you damage your painted walls this way, be sure to call on theFantastic Builders for any services regarding painting or building in general. Most building services will clean after themselves and you won't need to deal with the difficulty of construction dust on your own.

Dryer sheets are a very nifty solution for base boards and ledges. After a sheet has been through a cycle in the dryer, it will automatically collect any dust from these surfaces like a magnet. After you've gathered the dust from these surfaces, throw the sheets into the rubbish bin.

Floors are another common dust magnet but the upside is that they are easy to clean - all they need is regular mopping with a wet mop. An alternative, is to vacuum the floors.

Note: If your vacuum has a filter, be sure to monitor and clean the filter as often as possible.

If you have vents in your home, you can use the vacuum to clean the inside of the vents. Be sure to do this as thoroughly as you possibly can.
