Austin dental bridges are literally tooth-bridges that hold false tooth/teeth in place between two other natural teeth. These are used to replace missing / extracted tooth/teeth. An expert Austin dentist can make these teeth look very natural and you can hardly ever distinguish them from your real teeth. Bridges are an uncomplicated alternative to extensive dental surgery. However, it is important to understand exactly what they are before you actually opt to have one fitted. It also has to be understood they are an option only in certain dental situations and your dentist will be able to guide you about whether they are suitable for you.

These bridges bridge the gap between two teeth. There are situations when a person loses a tooth due to an injury or it has to be extracted due to extensive tooth decay. This false tooth takes the place of the one you are missing and is supported on the adjoining teeth that are on either side of the gap. In most cases, these bridges are permanent and do not need any special treatment in terms of brushing. They have to be brushed just like your natural teeth. The only possible thing ...
... you have to take care of is that you do not try to crack any hard object if you have a bridge. This can damage the material and lead it to crack or break.

An Austin dentist is well-versed in fixing Austin dental bridges. These are different from partial dentures and have some distinct advantages over them. There is generally confusion around these two. Dental bridges can be used effectively in the prevention of gum disease as well as in correcting certain “bite” issues. They are also very beneficial in improvement of speech in cases where there are misaligned or missing teeth. They are easy to have fixed and it generally takes only two visits to the dentist to get a bridge. There are different types of dental bridges.

Traditional bridges are made with two crowns. These are attached to the natural teeth that stand on either side of the missing tooth. The empty space is filled with false tooth/teeth. These crowns are also referred to as caps and can be attached to real teeth as well as implanted ones. A cantilever bridge is fixed only to one adjacent tooth. Its design is such that it automatically reduces the stress on existing teeth thus reducing damage. What must be understood is that as the support is limited, that section of the mouth cannot withstand too much chewing stress.

The resin bonded or Maryland bridge relies on an adhesive bond instead of a crown. It is not as strong as the other two options and is largely used for front teeth as they are mostly used for biting and not chewing. Many people confuse removable dentures to be bridges as they seem like they are bridging teeth-gaps. These are called partial dentures and are not permanent like bridges are. People with sensitive teeth are not ideal candidates for dental bridges. Those who have infection-prone gums have to be extra-careful with oral hygiene if they have dental bridges.
