Glass Vanities- A Class Apart

There’s something about glass that makes it attractive to most people. It can be transparent, opaque, plain, colored, textured, look like a wall or like the sky and you can use it in almost any space to add a designer touch to the décor. Today a lot of people have replaced traditional vanities with glass vanities. Traditionally, these cabinets would be made of wood with a tiled or stone counter top. Now, glass, in all its myriad hues has replaced traditional materials. The fact that more durable and crack-resistant, toughened glass is manufactured today, is possibly the reason for it being used in bathroom spaces.
Not only does it look very classy but is easy to clean and maintain as well. Glass vanities also need special-looking sinks and glass sinks are becoming very popular. They may be the variety that fit right under the top surface or could be simply be placed on top of it. Either ways, they look very elegant and add a unique touch to the bathroom. Traditional vanities are now passé and glass vanities are found at restaurants, resorts, hotels as well as in public areas. Homeowners also opt for glass vanities ...
... as a matter of choice.
A glass sink may also be called a glass vessel. It can be made in three different ways. The hand-blown bowl is made using the traditional, blown-glass method. The slight imperfections, ripples and bubbles in it actually add a unique “hand-made” look to it. The bowls that are mass-produced are made by fusing pieces of glass at a high temperature. These are smoother and the surface looks more uniform. The sheets of fused glass are heated till the point they soften and slump into a mould. This is how the glass bowl is formed.
Mosaic bowls are also very interesting-look. Small, colored glass-pieces are cemented to a clear glass bowl to form intricate designs and patterns. The finished product is then grouted and coated with polymer. Stores that sell bathroom vanities know that customers are always on the lookout for products that are innovative and unique-looking. They also custom-coat the vanities to match these fancy glass bowls. They are long-lasting and need just regular simple cleaning. Glass vanities are available in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. The glass may have mixed colors with marbled swirls in it or transparent colors that blend from one shade into another.
These vanities are very designer products and are sold as a set with a glass bowl sink to match it. The vanity might also be lighted from inside and the effect can be a very stunning one. It enhances the natural beauty of glass and your bathroom will look like no other. Though glass bowls and bathroom vanity counter tops look beautiful there are certain things that you must keep in mind. Glass, like ceramic may shatter if you drop a very heavy object on it and it cannot be repaired. The toughened-glass bowls and surfaces are a better option and you should settle for one of those.
